After a long period of waiting, signs are that 3.0 is close to being released to backers now that Evocati testers have they hands on it. Evocati is the name given to a small (600 or so) group of Star Citizen backers who get the first shot at trying out the newest patches. These new patches are usually riddled with bugs and crashes, usually making it a frustrating experience for the average gamer, thus the Evocati get first dibs on trying to find as many issues as possible and reporting them to the issue council. From that point the issue […]

Making claims of seamless ground to space travel, fancy artwork and immersive worlds is easy at E3, but how will it look in-game? In the case of Ubisoft’s E3 presentation, it seems they can back up their fancy cinematic intro with some stunning in-engine graphics shown here! We also get so see a very seamless transition from a camera zooming out from Knox standing on a giant statue to being zoomed all the way out and seeing the entire moon! So far the in-engine game looks promising, we at TEST Gaming look forward to seeing the game progress!
To begin this story, I first must explain what Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax are. In basic terms, it is a concept where comedians provide a commentary to a movie that makes fun of, or “riffs”, the movie. In the case of Mystery Science Theater 3000 it was a bunch of B-movies, mostly from the 1950s and 1960s. With Rifftrax, it is any movie that strikes their fancy. You just download the audio file and sync it to your DVD. This story begins with the Rifftrax version of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. In this movie we find Captain Kirk […]
Putting a spin on static in-game screenshots, this video is a 4k compilation of four parallax effect clips I created using in-game screenshots from Star Citizen Alpha 2.6. These use a technique commonly called “Parallax Scrolling” which: “is a technique in computer graphics and web design, where background images move by the camera slower than foreground images, creating an illusion of depth in a 2D scene and adding to the immersion. The technique grew out of the multiplane camera technique used in traditional animation since the 1930s.” Each scene uses anywhere from four to eight different in-game screenshots specifically taken for […]

This weekend marks the 50th Anniversary of the seminal event, the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 in Monterey, California. Monterey Pop is considered by many music historians to be the first modern rock festival. It was the first time pop music (what we would come to call rock by the 1980s) was so big it received its own dedicated venue for a weekend. The fairgrounds alone held up to 9,000 audience members – something only eclipsed by The Beatles and Elvis in arenas at that point. Estimates range from a minimum of 25,000 to over 90,000 people were in the […]
An unlikely competitor has emerged! One of the most fun filled and exciting previews out of E3 was Beyond Good and Evil 2! Not having played the first one, I have no idea what is happening with this story line, but if the in-game action comes anything close to what the this promotional video shows, then this game is going to be a lot of fun! So what does this have to do with Star Citizen you ask? Nothing! Except that we have yet another game promising seamless transitions from the surface of a planet into space, and back down to […]
