So you want to be an author, and you want to stream your creative process on Twitch. Or, at least, you think you do. The first question you need to be asking yourself is, “Why do I want to stream my writing process on Twitch?” Hopefully, I can give you an answer. But, before I do, let me explain a little about myself and why I’m writing this in the first place. My name on Twitch is ErikMcKetten. I have been streaming games for almost two years now, mostly a little independent game called “Star Citizen.” You may have heard […]

Yes, you heard it right! After thirteen years, Eve Online is now offering a F2P option through a new mechanic they call Alpha Clones. It has become very clear to CCP that space sims are making a comeback, notably Star Citizen and the hype it generated in gamescom is a big indicator of what is to come. CCP, makers of Eve Online, have done an excellent job at staying relevant for as long as they have. While many MMO’s have come and gone, Eve has stood the test of time. TEST Squadron has seen many new members join us who […]
When Eric Clapton first saw Jimi Hendrix play live, his hands reportedly fell from his guitar and he walked off stage. Backstage, he was found trying to light a cigarette with shaking hands. He remarked, “Is he really that good?” There are certain artists, certain works of art, that when they come along others in the field just step back and question their own worth. I have a feeling “Arrival” will become one of those movies that other movie makers sit back and go, “How can I ever live up to that?” In the movie industry there have been many […]
Yesterday, October 16, 2016, marked a thirteen year anniversary which, in spite of my best intentions, I vividly recall each and every year. On October 16th, 2003 in Karbala, Iraq, three members of my first United States Army unit were killed in action. Their names were Corporal Sean Grilley, Staff Sergeant Joseph Bellavia, and Lieutenant Colonel Kim Orlando. These wasn’t the first deaths in Iraq I faced, nor would they be the last. But it was a turning point for me as a human being and a soldier. Colonel Orlando, despite his rank and the fact that he was my […]
In case you missed it last night, Captain_Richard was doing a 10k follower celebration and giving away $1000 worth of ships! The whole thing exploded and he had upwards of 2000 viewers on at one time! For those of you that don’t watch streams, currently the top spots on Star Citizen get around 250-500 viewers when they stream, so this was gigantic by Star Citizen standards! The stream was fast paced and full of energy, chat was exploding and hype levels soared with every 5th subscriber to his stream triggering a hype train celebration! By the time I called it a […]
I had a good laugh when I saw this because I have had the same experience many times until I figured out this one weird trick! For some reason, the Star Citizen patcher loves to suck bandwidth. All of it! A recent article from Alex Walker, writer for Kotaku.au, reveals him having the same humorous experience of being responsible for a major outage. Read more about it here: http://www.kotaku.com.au/2016/08/star-citizen-got-me-blacklisted-from-our-office-internet/ Problem is, people did notice. The whole office in fact — because not longer after the crowdfunded gargantuan space epic began patching, the internet for the whole office went down. I had […]
